This unit introduces the five elements of fitness; cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Since we are stewards of the bodies that God has graciously given us we will explore the importance of exercise, its benefits, how to plan a fitness program, avoid misconceptions, and create routines for overall fitness. Students will develop routines targeting relevant exercises for specific muscle groups located in the Body and Muscle Directory section. Research, group assignments, projects, and activities will help students in understanding and demonstrating the variety of benefits in physical activities.
